Syed Abdel Hafeez, Al-Ahly’s director of football, has confirmed that the club will not miss the opportunity to make new deals to bolster the offensive line this January’s winter transfer window, despite the brilliance of Mahmoud Abdel Moneim ‘Kahraba’.

Kahraba returned from a 6-month suspension to surprise everyone with his brilliance in the matches of Smouha in the Egyptian Cup and Zamalek in the league.

Kahraba, who hadn’t played an official game in around 8 months, scored twice and did the same in both matches.

Abdel Hafeez was asked if Kahraba’s brilliance would lead Al-Ahly to overlook supporting the attack with a new deal, and he replied in statements to MBC Egypt early on Sunday morning: “There cannot be an opportunity to support the team with deals and we do not take advantage from him while Bab Registration is open as the club looks to close new deals.

Al-Ahly have been on the lookout for a foreign striker since the transfer window opened in early January after Marcel Kohler, the team’s coach, revealed that he was not convinced of the abilities of the team’s current forwards.

Al-Ahly are preparing to participate in the Club World Cup in Morocco next February.

Regarding the case, Kahraba Abdel Hafeez commented: “Al-Ahly did not disappoint anyone by asking for help. I am not a legal expert, but February 2nd may see a breakthrough in the Kahraba case.”

FIFA’s disciplinary committee will hold a hearing on February 2 to discuss developments in the Kahraba case.
