Toni Kroos and Paul Pogba – Germany and France – Euro 2020
Toni Kroos, the current Real Madrid player and the former Germany national team, has made his last decision regarding returning from international retirement and participating in the 2022 World Cup.
Toni Kroos announced his international retirement after the end of the last edition of the European Nations Cup “Euro”.
“I will not be in the World Cup,” Kroos told Movistart Plus+. “But I am sure that when I watch the matches, I will want to play. But I have already decided to leave the national team after the Euro.”
He added, “The reasons for my retirement are the desire to spend more time with my family, and secondly because there are now players who deserve to play more and I did not want to reach the time when they would come and tell me that it was better for me to retire, so I decided.”
And Kroos chose his favorite coach, and replied: “If I had to choose the perfect coach for my way of playing: Pep Guardiola. He fought for my stay at Bayern Munich, I really enjoyed my year with him in Munich and improved a lot under his leadership.”
The German national team plays in Group E of the World Cup with Spain, Costa Rica and Japan.
The 32-year-old participated with the German national team in 106 matches, scored 17 goals and made 19 in all competitions.
Toni Kroos won the 2014 World Cup with Germany after defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final.
