Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek Club, welcomed the host of the Sudanese team Al-Mereih during the matches of the African Champions League.

And the Sudanese crescent decided earlier yesterday, Saturday, not to allow their national, Al-Mereih, to host him in their stadium to play the CAF Champions League matches.

Mortada Mansoor said on his YouTube channel, “What happened between the crescent moon and Mars is an internal decision.”

He added: “We welcome the Al-Mereich team if they want to play the two games in Cairo and stay entirely at the expense of the club.”

And he continued: “We hoped to play in Sudan because it is a very generous nation and because the champion is not afraid to play anywhere.”

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, Al-Hilal said its decision to agree to host Al-Mereih was for purely patriotic reasons, in addition to reducing fanaticism between the two clubs.

However, Al-Hilal indicated that its facilities were severely damaged by Al-Mereih club officials during the last top-flight match and 513 seats were destroyed on the south side of the stadium.

This is in addition to the destruction of five seats in the main booth, which housed some of the leaders of Mars, in addition to offensive banners raised by Mars fans.

Al-Hilal confirmed that the facilities were deliberately destroyed after the match and the incident was proven by the match monitor and security coordinator, in addition to the attack on fans by the club’s fans.

Al-Hilal decided to approach the Sudanese Football Association to clarify the damage that occurred at its stadium, in addition to approaching Al-Merich to inform them not to allow them to play matches at their stadium.

Al-Merreikh plays in Group D of the CAF Champions League, alongside Zamalek, Belouizdad Youth Club and Al-Taraji.

Al-Hilal’s statement was as follows:
