Lionel Messi and the world title in Argentina

Saudi club Al-Hilal dreams of signing Lionel Messi, captain of the Argentine national team and a player of Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current season, with an option to extend for another season with the consent of both parties.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, a deal with Lionel Messi is Al Hilal’s biggest desire.

The Spanish newspaper states that the Saudi club are willing to pay $350 million a year to sign the Paris Saint-Germain star.

She indicated that Al Hilal would take advantage of Messi’s presence in Riyadh next week to hold talks with the World Cup champions.

Messi will be in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, next Thursday to play Al Hilal Stars and Al Nasr’s match against Paris Saint-Germain in the Riyadh Cup.

And reports highlight that Al-Hilal will receive financial backing from the Kingdom to arrange the Messi deal, similar to what happened in Al-Nasr’s contract deal with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Al-Nasr signed Ronaldo for two-and-a-half seasons, for around €200 million a year, starting with the current winter transfer window.

The conflict between Messi, the Argentina captain and current Paris Saint-Germain star, and Ronaldo, Real Madrid’s historic goalscorer and former Manchester United star, has been known for a long time.

Jose Felix, editor-in-chief of Marca newspaper, said in the stc stadium program: “Al-Hilal’s offer for a contract with Messi exists, but will Messi continue next season with Paris or not? Anything is possible.”

Al-Hilal are preparing hard for the next summer transfer market after suffering a two-period registration ban due to the signing of their player, Mohamed Kno, with Al-Nasr Club before renewing his contract with the blue team.

On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the chances of Messi renewing his contract with the team.

Messi made his first appearance for Paris Saint-Germain since winning the World Cup with the Argentina national team and scored against Angers in the French league. (see details)

And Paris Saint-Germain’s account said, via Twitter, after the game: “Messi is back and scores, are you ready for the surprise?”

Messi has played for Paris Saint-Germain since the summer of 2021, making 54 appearances, scoring 24 goals and scoring 29 in all competitions.

Messi recently won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, beating France in the final on penalties.
