Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer said he was scared after learning he had skin cancer earlier.
“At first, I was afraid to be honest,” Neuer told the German RTL website.
And he continued, “But after that everything was clear that if we take the right path and wisely with some healthy decisions, everything will be good and it will be on the safe side, and there is no need to fear.”
And he added, “But I had to pay the price because I have a scar next to my nose. I underwent three operations for treatment.”
“I’ve had three surgeries and had skin cancer earlier,” Neuer said earlier in a video clip. “Angelique and I have a history of skin diseases.”
“When it comes to sunscreen, we’ve taken care of providing maximum protection,” he added.
“Since we train outside all the time and also like to spend our free time in nature, it is imperative for us to start with modern sun protection filters and an SPF of 50+.”
“So we know for sure that we have sunscreen that protects us constantly and hardly anything can burn.”
According to Bild newspaper, there was already speculation about a possible illness in December 2021 when Neuer was walking around with a visible patch on his face ahead of the Champions League match against Barcelona.
