The Federal Court of Switzerland rejected an appeal by the Al-Ahly club that the Sports Court “Cas” lacked jurisdiction to hear the case of Abdullah Al-Sayed, the player of the Pyramids.
Thus, the case continues before the Sports Court.
The text of the decision of the Federal Court of Switzerland reads as follows:
1- The appeal is rejected to the extent that it can be rejected.
2- Ordering the applicant to pay the costs of the case in the amount of 17,500 Swiss francs.
3- The plaintiff must compensate the defendant for the federal court proceedings in the amount of 19,500 Swiss francs.
4- The decision will be communicated in writing to the interested parties, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), the Egyptian Center for Sports Agreement and Arbitration, the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Egyptian Football Association.
Abdullah Al-Sayed had appealed to the Sports Court against the decision to fine him and confiscate his assets in favor of Al-Ahli, which was issued by the Center for Sports Settlement and Arbitration.
The player sought to overturn the previous decision through a $2 million fine and asset freeze, which was issued on the grounds that he had breached the terms of the contract.
For its part, Al-Ahly appealed to the Federal Court of Switzerland, which does not have the jurisdiction of the Sports Court.
