The Games Awards 2022 have ended with a random kid sneaking onto the scene and muttering nonsense about “Reform Rabbi Bill Clinton.” The 2022 Games Awards are now, understandably, trying to pretend it never happened, blurring the kid from a celebratory photo Elder Ring developer FromSoftware’s second Game of the Year win.

“FromSoftware is the first studio to win 2 Game of the Year awards at The Game Awards,” the event’s social media account tweeted on Wednesday. The studio won in 2019 for Ax: Shadows Die Twiceand again earlier this month for Elder Ring. “Greetings from Software,” he concludes. Attached was a photo of the studio’s director and president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, holding the award with a member of the team translating his acceptance speech that evening.

But it didn’t take an eagle-eyed observer to notice that Bill Clinton’s prankster from that night, standing behind the two men, had been carelessly photoshopped out of the image. “LOST MY MIND THEY BLURRED THE BABY LMFAOO,” quote-tweet Twitch streamer GamesCage. “Haha, next time you should use Photoshop’s Content Aware Fill tool to remove background assets,” added By Software Data Specialist, Lance McDonald.

It was later revealed that the boy who crashed the Game Awards that night was Matan Even, a high school student with a penchant for IRL influence-chasing stunts, which later gained internet fame. He previously trolled an NBA fan’s camera with freedom for a Hong Kong T-shirt and interrupted a BlizzCon panel with a similar message. He appeared twice on InfoWars to discuss Chinese censorship, but his social media presence does not indicate allegiance to any particular political ideology, and he has since distanced himself from InfoWars host Owen Shroyer, whom he previously called his “favorite guy” on the right – wing conspiratorial network.

Even’s Cascade at The Game Awards it seemed devoid of much substance or meaning, but momentarily stole the spotlight from the rest of the ceremony. Host Jeff Keighley laughed as security escorted the minor off stage, and although he later tweeted that Even had been arrested, LAPD said he was only escorted to a local police station before being released without any charges.

The blurry tweet seems to indicate that Keighley’s Game Awards still feel tainted on some level by the intruder that night. However, it’s clearly not tarnished enough to have someone with more Photoshop experience fix the image. It took my cityZack Zwiezen’s own has less than fifteen minutes to properly edit the child out of the image. Or as one person indicatedThe Game Awards could have just used one of the many other photos where the kid is not visible.

The Game Awards did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
