It can be extremely frustrating when trying to read important message on your iPhone and you have to squint to see what’s on your screen because the font is so small. However, there is a way to make your reading a lot easier, and we’re going to show you how.

How to change the font size on your iPhone

  • Go to your Settings app
  • Choose Display and brightness

This is the way to go if you just want a quick text size adjustment. However, if you want to make your text sizes even bigger, or if you want to change the way the text appears on your screen, there’s a way to adjust that as well.

How to change the display size and text on your iPhone

  • Open your Settings app
  • Touch Accessibility

What else can I change on the Display Size and Text page?

You’ll notice if you go back to Page with display size and text that there are quite a few other options you can play around with to change the text on your phone.

Here’s a breakdown of what each option does to your display and text. If any of these options look like something you’d like to have, feel free to include them.

  • Bold text: Shows text in bold
  • Larger text: Turn on larger sizes for accessibility, then adjust the text size using the font size slider. This setting adjusts to your preferred text size in apps that support it Dynamic typelike Settings, Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages and Notes
  • Button Shapes: This setting highlights text that you can touch
  • On/Off Labels: This setting shows switches on with “1” and switches off with “0”.
  • Reduce transparency: Improves contrast by reducing transparency and blurring some backgrounds to increase readability
  • Increase contrast: Increases the color contrast between the application’s foreground and background colors
  • Distinguish without color: Replaces UI elements that rely solely on color to convey information with alternatives
  • Smart Flip: Inverts display colors except for images, media, and some applications that use dark color styles
  • Classic flip: Inverts the display colors
  • Color filters: Can be used to distinguish colors by those who are color blind and those who have difficulty reading text on the display
  • Reduce white point: Reduces the intensity of bright colors
  • Auto Brightness: Automatically adjusts screen brightness for current lighting conditions using the built-in ambient light sensor – It’s important to note that turning off auto-brightness can affect battery life and long-term display performance
