Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham slams ‘cult of inclusion’ to normalize obesity among children and adults on “Ingraham’s Corner.”

LAURA INGRAHAM: Now to children’s health, mental and physical, with reports of staggering depression, anxiety and learning deficits, and perhaps even more dangerously, increased obesity in children – this is worth seeing. While promoting kindness is one thing, glamorizing obesity with its many health risks is quite another. But that’s exactly what’s happening in this cult of inclusion. They are normalizing something that we should strongly discourage because you are not born with a high BMI, you achieve a high BMI. And the more overweight we are, the more likely we are to develop diabetes, heart disease and cancer. But popular culture says, “Stop shaming, start selling.”

Now, that’s common sense. If we really care about young people and adults struggling with their weight, the last thing we need to do is smear them, marinate them in happy tales. We should respect them enough to tell them the truth. This is mostly about self-control, diet and exercise. And when we take in more calories than we burn, the excess is stored as fat — period. Every child should be told this and know it. It requires us to be better parents, have dinner with our children in the evening, provide them with simpler, better food choices and strictly limit screen time, and it also requires some form of exercise. But look, even if you say that – to think that – it’s fat shame.
