Mortada Mansour, President of Zamalek Club, stressed his refusal to interfere in the work of coach Jesualdo Ferreira, indicating that the club is going through the most difficult period in its history.
And Zamalek wasted two points by falling into a 2-2 draw trap with Al-Masry, on Thursday evening, in the fifth round of the league.
Mortada said in an interview with the club’s channel: “I feel sad like the rest of the Zamalek fans, but what is required of me? Do I interfere or not? Am I the one who sets the team’s formation?”
He added, “I will not interfere in the work of the coaching staff. Ferreira is the one who will bear the responsibility if he makes a mistake, and if he succeeds, he will receive praise.”
He continued, “I brought 11 players at the highest level to support the team. It is not my problem that the coach does not rely on them.”
He explained, “I support Ferreira and his coaching staff, and the Portuguese coach should take advantage of the mistakes that people are talking about.”
And the president of Zamalek sent a message to the fans of his club, in which he said: “You are the reason for the decline in Mahmoud Alaa’s level. You were criticizing him because of the CAF Champions League final against Al-Ahly, and after his departure from Zamalek, you say that Mortada Mansour is the reason for his departure.”
He concluded his remarks, saying: “Zamalek is going through the most difficult stage in its history, and it seems that the reason is that it won many championships.”
