NVIDIA has a reference design for the RTX 4070 and possibly the RTX 4060 Ti as well
YouTuber RedGamingTech shared exclusive box photos for an as-yet-unannounced RTX 4070 box. Although there was no card inside, this confirms that NVIDIA may once again offer their design together with board partners.
The image above purportedly confirms earlier NVIDIA RTX 4070 Founders Edition GPU plans, although it doesn’t suggest a higher-end RTX 4070 TI model with their internal design. The box that is pictured does not show a card, which means the card either wasn’t ready at the time, or it’s just a box design in preparation for a card that might come out.
Another leak (kopite7kimi) came forward to say that the same cooler design could be used by another AD104 GPU called the RTX 4060 Ti. Both SKUs are expected in the first half of 2023. It would be a logical solution to reuse an existing board design and cooler for two cards.
The information written on the box confirms that the card will require a 2×8-pin to 1×16-pin power adapter and will be 112mm wide. By comparison, the RTX 4080 is 140mm wide, so this Founders Edition GPU is significantly smaller.
As long as speculation is taken into account, the RTX 4070 uses an AD104-250 or AD104-251 GPU with 5888 CUDA cores. This model will feature 12GB of GDDR6X memory and a 192-bit memory bus, so the same configuration as the RTX 4070 Ti. The reduced number of cores allows NVIDIA to reduce power consumption to the level of 200-250W.
The latest information indicates that mass production of the AD104-250 GPU is scheduled for the second half of February, which usually means market availability a few weeks later.
