The erudition-filled open world leaves one satisfied with the full-fledged gameplay, and its sequel only builds on it. The information comes from accredited industry insider, Colin Moriarty, who broke the unexpected word. Colin revealed the information on a recent episode of the Sacred Symbols+ podcast (locked behind a paywall on Patreon). Horizon Zero Dawn’s PlayStation 5 the remake or remaster will be handled by another studio.

Colin can’t confirm the validity of the Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 remake rumors, but claims that its development is being handled without the direct involvement of Guerrilla games. According to Colin, another studio is developing the next-gen version, and it could be one of PlayStation’s in-house studios.

The insider expressed, “We also assume [Guerrilla] is doing the Horizon remake there, although if that’s true, what I’ve heard is that it’s on a different team.

Colin also reiterated that he won’t divulge which team could be creating the next-gen iteration of Horizon Zero Dawn, as the source might not appreciate revealing it.

While fans may be upset with Guerrilla Games for not developing the updated version of Horizon Zero Dawn, they are still deeply involved with the IP these days. The team works on multiple projects related to Horizon. For example, Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores, the official expansion for the game, will be released in April 2023.

Additionally, Guerrilla Games is co-developing Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a VR spin-off for the PSVR2 headset with Firesprite. The alluring studio also recently confirmed production by an in-house team on a standalone online title set in the storied and expansive Horizon universe.

The Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 remake will apparently feature various improvements in visual and gameplay aspects. For example, “improved lighting system (environmental occlusion and such), reworked textures. and better animations, with new character models to match those of the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West.”
