The Warzone 2 number of players has fallen significantly and “at a higher rate than expected,” according to a CharlieIntel report. So while it’s no surprise that the number of players for the multiplayer game has dropped a few months after launch, it seems like they’re leaving Warzone 2 faster than usual for a few reasons.

Possible reasons why players have left Warzone 2

While there is no player count data for Warzone 2 on PS5 and PS4, they are available for the PC version via SteamCharts. Following the player count statistics for the game over the past few months, it had a peak of 488,897 players on November 19, 2022, which makes sense since it was the first Sunday after the game launched. This figure continued to drop steadily to an average of around 120,000 players in the last week starting on January 9th.

Twitter users respond to The CharlieIntel Report give some explanations as to why players are leaving this particular variant of Call of Duty. Looking at the answers with a high number of likes, we found one user who remains frustrated with Warzone 2’s lack of recorded stats. Another says that it lacks numerous features from the original Warzone and that it hasn’t added many new ones since launch.

Other reasons could be that some players just want back the popular Verdansk map from Warzone 1. There are also many other Battle Royale games to choose from such as Fortnite and Apex Legends.
